Watch : Nurse sings dying patient’s favorite song
A nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center sings to a dying woman from a cancer.
The patient named Margaret Smith, 63 was having a declining health was brought to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Margaret is suffering from a liver cancer and doctors said transplant is not an option as she’s too sick to survive it.
The video posted at Facebook which has 4 million videos as of this posting shows the nurse named Olivia Nuefelder as she sings “Dancing in the Sky” by Dani and Lizzy. It was Margaret’s favorite song.
Daughter of patient Megan Smith posted the said video (see below) said, Nuefelder sat with her mother for hours as her anesthesia wore off. Margaret used to call her nurse angel because of her compassion as they truly appreciate the nurse.
“Words cannot describe the appreciation and love we feel for nurse Olivia, who Mom calls her angel,”
“Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen,” Smith wrote. “You truly are a beam of light and I cannot thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother. God bless you Olivia!”
Margaret was later moved to a nursing home in Cookeville, Tennessee and passed away Wednesday.
Neufelder felt overwhelmed with the response to the video saying it was life-changing. She told to radio station 1010 WINS. She also said that her heart breaks thinking about losing Margaret.
“Knowing that she will be dancing in the heavens and singing with the angels helps me find peace during this somber time,”
“This experience has challenged me in many ways.”
Olivia hopes that people see what true compassion looks like and begin to practice it themselves.
“I pray this story helps people find comfort through a dark time they may be going through,”
